Examine Your Life

1. What is it that you truly want in life?

"What is the 'unexamined life'? Unfortunately, it's the form of life that far too many people live: getting up, dressing, eating, going to work, breaking for lunch, working some more, going home, eating again, watching TV, leafing through magazines, exchanging a few words with fellow family members or with friends on the phone, changing for bed and falling to sleep- just to repeat the same routine all over, and over, and over, without ever thinking about what it all means or how life should be really lived." So what is it that you REALLY want? Where do your noblest fantasies take you?

2. Who do you truly want to be as a husband?

When you think of the husband God wants you to be, what you truly wish to be, what does he look like when it comes to conversations, service, leading, building up and intimacy with your spouse?

3. Who do you truly want to be as a parent?

When you think of how you want your children to relate to you, how you want them to honor God, live faithfully, see Jesus through you, what does God aspire you to become?

4. Who do you truly want to be an extension of the hand of Jesus Christ?

Who does God awaken in your mind? What does compassion for others, help for others, sharing the good news with others, look like? Who does your heart burn for? If you cannot think of whom you wish to reach out to in the compassion of Christ (specific person, type of people [special needs kids, homeless, underprivileged, family, neighbors, etc], you need to really take some time to examine your soul in extended times of silence!!

5. What are you willing to do to get there?

What will you be willing to do when truly desperate to become that which Christ wants for your life? What needs to become a habit? What needs to be set aside? What virtues do you need to cultivate? What goals do you need to establish?
