Emily Shanahan is a 2011 Graduate of Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. Emily's degree is a Bachelor of Arts in Comprehensive Communications, with a double minor in Bible and Spanish.
Emily is one of only three graduates honored with Cedarville University's most prestigious student award, The Presidents Trophy , the highest honor for a graduating senior, recognizes leadership, ministry, community and campus involvement, and academic achievement.
In April 2011, Emily was named in the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. In Emily's junior year at CU, she was the Junior Homecoming Court Representative for her class. She is also a 2007 graduate of West Carrollton High School in Ohio.
In June of 2010, Emily had the opportunity to use her Spanish language skills during her internship at Joni And Friends International Disability Center, in Agoura Hills, California, with Joni Eareckson Tada.
In August 2005 Emily participated in the National Young Leaders Conference (NYLC) in Washington D.C. In August 2006 Emily proceeded to the next phase of the leadership series, Global Young Leaders Conference (GLYC), in both Washington D.C. and New York City. In October 2005 Emily was selected as Closing Keynote Speaker for the Junior NYLC for 300 middle school students also in Washington D.C.
Emily has cerebral palsy, which allows her the unique opportunity to drive a power wheelchair, made by Permobil, for daily mobility. She enjoys reading, spending time with friends, spending hours at Barnes and Noble, reading her Color Nook, swimming, outings in her Duet Bike, riding horses, and Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Emily started modeling at the age of 3, acting at the age of 7 and co-authored a chapter in a book at age 11. Emily is currently working with Roof-Goenner Talent Agency. Emily also had the privilege of meeting and praying with President Bush at the White House in April 2004.
Emily's acting career started with Bill and Gloria Gaither on a video called The Homecoming Kids Go West filmed in August of 1996 in Estes Park, Colorado. Emily was an honorary Homecoming Kid. In this exciting adventure, the Homecoming Kids wind up in the Wide, Wide west - and Fritz has gotten lost along the way. Join George Younce, Vestal Goodman, Buddy Greene, Bill Miller, and Jeff & Sheri Easter as they help the kids learn "to look on the inside and not on the outside" of things.
Emily enjoys motivational speaking, most recently on June 12, 2011, as the High School Commencement Speaker for Veritas Academy in Wells, Maine.
Emily will be pursuing her Master's degree at Anderson University , Anderson, Indiana, in Online Master of Arts in Christian Ministries with a Concentration in Non-Profit Organization Management. Emily's desire is to develop a non-profit organization for the "differently enabled".
